The YMCA Academy Jack Chapter is a student-led mental health promotion club. This club helps to organize assemblies and events around mental health awareness for the student body. Our club is funded and supported by Jack.org, an initiative aimed at bringing youth together and building capacity for mental health activities. Training is provided, and students earn volunteer hours as well as valuable leadership skills as they contribute to the mental health and well-being of our community.

Our club is funded and supported by Jack.org, an initiative aimed at bringing youth together and building capacity for mental health activities. Training is provided, and students earn volunteer hours as well as valuable leadership skills as they contribute to the mental health and well-being of our community.

Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) Residential School (1891-1981) Commemoration Project and Reunion events that took place in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in May 2013. This project was the vision of Esketemc (Alkali Lake) Chief Fred Robbins, who is a former student himself. It brought together former students and their families from the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot’in, Southern Dakelh and St’at’imc Nations along with the Cariboo Regional District, the Mayors and municipalities, School Districts and civic organizations in the Cariboo Region.

We will meet at the entrance to the North Side (we will let students in and ask them to leave their belongings in the Purple Room before heading to the park).

Mock Trial Club

Mock Trial Club is an opportunity to explore aspects of criminal law while developing literacy, oral communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills in a fun and challenging co-curricular role-playing experience. For the first part of the school year, students will learn the basics and form two teams that will “play” against each other. Beginning in January, the club will focus on tackling the 2025 Ontario Bar Association high school mock trial case. Students demonstrating a high level of commitment and proficiency will have the opportunity to participate in the city-wide competitive mock trial tournament in early May.
Note: While in the second semester connections will be made to the Grade 11/12 Law class, students do not need to be enrolled in the class in order to participate, nor are students taking Law required to participate in Mock Trial.

Our club is funded and supported by Jack.org, an initiative aimed at bringing youth together and building capacity for mental health activities. Training is provided, and students earn volunteer hours as well as valuable leadership skills as they contribute to the mental health and well-being of our community.
Note: As a student leadership club, the Jack Chapter occasionally meets at additional times when planning events and initiatives. High School students only.

For the first part of the school year, students will learn the basics and form two teams that will “play” against each other. Beginning in January, the club will focus on tackling the 2025 Ontario Bar Association high school mock trial case. Students demonstrating a high level of commitment and proficiency will have the opportunity to participate in the city-wide competitive mock trial tournament in early May.
Note: While in the second semester connections will be made to the Grade 11/12 Law class, students do not need to be enrolled in the class in order to participate, nor are students taking Law required to participate in Mock Trial.

If you’re struggling with something from math class or if you need some more time to get your math work done come to math club. You can come every week or drop in as needed. If you love math, you can come hang out and help other students. We’ll also provide some fun challenge problems and math facts!

This year the Media Production Club will work on a year-long school highlight production. During the process, we will explore cinematography, music, special effects, etc. As a team together we will decide the details of the film, such as story, casts, sets, etc. We will share our final production with the school community. All students are welcome to participate in this student-led media production club.

The YMCA Academy Jack Chapter is a student-led mental health promotion club. This club helps organize events and initiatives around mental health awareness for students. Our club is funded and supported by Jack.org, an initiative aimed at bringing youth together and building capacity for mental health activities. Training is provided, and students earn volunteer hours as well as valuable leadership skills as they contribute to the mental health and well-being of our community.
Note: As a student leadership club, the Jack Chapter occasionally meets at additional times when planning events and initiatives. High School students only.

Mock Trial Club is an opportunity to explore aspects of criminal law while developing literacy, oral communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills in a fun and challenging co-curricular role-playing experience. For the first part of the school year, students will learn the basics and form two teams that will “play” against each other. Beginning in January, the club will focus on tackling the 2025 Ontario Bar Association high school mock trial case. Students demonstrating a high level of commitment and proficiency will have the opportunity to participate in the city-wide competitive mock trial tournament in early May.
Note: While in the second semester connections will be made to the Grade 11/12 Law class, students do not need to be enrolled in the class in order to participate, nor are students taking Law required to participate in Mock Trial.

Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) Residential School (1891-1981) Commemoration Project and Reunion events that took place in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in May 2013. This project was the vision of Esketemc (Alkali Lake) Chief Fred Robbins, who is a former student himself. It brought together former students and their families from the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot’in, Southern Dakelh and St’at’imc Nations along with the Cariboo Regional District, the Mayors and municipalities, School Districts and civic organizations in the Cariboo Region.
