Sept. 29th, 2010 – Students attending We Day!

“Created by Free The Children to celebrate the power of young people to create positive change, We Day is a day-long event that ignites a year-long program for change, called We Schools in Action. In cities across Canada, the event brings inspirational speeches and performances to young leaders. Students then bring that energy home to take action on local and international issues all year long. Free The Children’s We Day is the celebration, the inspiration and the vehicle for young people to change the world.”

Sept. 27th, 2010 – Pictures from the YMCA AGM

The YMCA’s new strategic plan, “Strong Start, Great Future,” was launched on Thursday at the AGM held at Metro Central.  Students from the Academy were invited to participate in the closing celebration and they really put on a show!  Donning a rainbow of coloured YMCA t-shirts and holding signs that represented a variety of youth advocacy issues, our students shimmied through the crowd, strutted on to the stage and raised the roof to the 1980’s tune “Rise Up” by Toronto’s Parachute Club.  After a moving speech by CEO Medhat Mahdy, this upbeat display of colour and energy filled the room with positive vibes and an inspiring send-off to the members of the organization.  Academy students were proud to represent the face of today’s youth and were happy to play a part in such an important and invigorating event.
